The Cúirt 2026 launch was one for the books! We gathered a warm and thoughtful audience at The Mick Lally Theatre to welcome the 41st Cúirt Festival programme in style over delicious food and drinks.
Speeches from Megs Morley Director of Galway Arts Centre and Cúirt Festival Director Manuela Moser set the scene followed by Festival Guest Lorna Shaughnessy who read 5 poems from her imminent (6th) collection Throat Full of Feathers (Salmon Poetry) launching at this year’s festival. We finished with a live radio broadcast by Gary McMahon from Galway Bay Fm.
Cúirt 2026 will celebrate three of the most significant Irish writers of the last 100
years, Seamus Heaney, Maeve Brennan and Manchán Magan, reflecting on their
legacy and the words they left us with. The Cúirt Lecture 2026 will be delivered by Sarah Clancy who will speak about her journey on the Global Sumud Flotilla.
Other highlights include appearances from Ardal O’Hanlon, Louise O’Neill, Alan Davies, Liz Nugent, Neil Jordan, and many more talented writers across Galway’s beloved venues. There is also a wide range of workshops and showcases to enjoy.
We look forward to seeing you soon in April where we will join together in finding the words over a week of poetry, prose and much more.
