Dear Stuart,
Summer is here and it is hot out there! Chill out and read about some of the cool stories and opportunities we have to share with you... |

We recently had a lovely workshop with young people within the Shared Tenancy service of MACS NI; a charity dedicated to ending youth homelessness.
The workshop was part of their Equity in Action programme: a project centred around giving young people a safe and creative space to explore experiences around identity, stigma, discrimination, racism, stereotypes and belonging.
We invited participants to the Seamus Heaney Centre where they created original characters with an ambition and a challenge. You can read the story they wrote together about their chosen character below.
In this workshop we facilitated a creative space where young people can express themselves, challenge stereotypes and explore how they feel represented within society, communities and online spaces. We created opportunities for open discussion around misinformation, online narratives, discrimination and inclusion.
In the second half of the workshop participants worked 1:1 with mentors to continue the story in their own way. We heard all of the individual stories read aloud at the end. The stories even included poetry inspired by one writer's love of freestyle.
We look forward to working with group again! |

We recently had a daytrip to Greenhill YMCA with participants from Clann Éireann as part of our cross-community project Peace by Piece.
The group has been working with us since January along with their partner group St Patrick’s Youth Club. Across a number of individual and partnered sessions, the groups got involved in a mix of youth work activities and creative writing, exploring identity, community and inclusion. The product of all this amazing work? St Patrick's and Clann Éireann have co-authored a Guide to a Great Youth Group, to share with other youth groups looking to have as much fun as these two groups always do.
If you think this looks like fun, be sure to keep an eye on this newsletter because we’ll be recruiting more partnerships later in the year!
Peace by Piece is a part of A Shared Agenda for Piece, a project funded by PeacePlus through the Shared European Union Programmes Body. |
