Poetry 25 lines, prose 250 words (word doc, no more than 3 poems or 2 prose pieces)
The Cormorant takes its name from the seabird, associated with carrying messages between worlds, and captured in a poem by the late Dermot Healy.
They are a familiar sight along the sligo coastline, standing sentinel, watching and waiting.
The Cormorant publishes work from both established and emerging writers. Launched during Tread Softly 2018, The Cormorant has now produced five issues, with the sixth due to be published in June 2021. It has published over 130 writers including Kevin Barry, Wendy Erskine, Bernie McGill, Molly McCloskey, Stephen Sexton, Una Mannion, Louise Kennedy and Eoin McNamee. There are local and international voices and experiences. Some writers are publishing creative work for the first time.
