Beckettian Spaces of Resilience: Language, Creativity and the Mind

We are delighted to present a unique Franco-German event exploring Samuel Beckett’s art of resilience across two contemporary artistic projects: a screening of En Attendant Monsieur Godot (France, dir. Alice Clabaut, subtitled in English) and a visual presentation inspired by the exhibition Samuel Beckett: The German Room currently at the Regensburg University.
An artistic panel will follow on Beckett’s Art of Resilience in France and Germany.
This event is presented by the French Embassy and the Goethe-Institut in partnership with the Department of Drama at Trinity College Dublin and the Trinity Centre for Beckett Studies.

Free Online Film Screening : TONI (Toni, en famille)

A special online screening of ‘Toni ( Toni en famille) (2023) by Nathan Ambrosioni. Starring Camille Cottin ( Call My Agent), this moving film tells the story of Toni, a single mother raising five children with the two eldest preparing to leave for college. It explores the challenges faced by women at a turning point in their lives, balancing resilience, identity, and hope.

Female and non-binary dance artists are invited to apply for a week-long residency at Project Arts Centre led by Jessie Thompson, in collaboration with French choreographer Chris Fargeot. Open to all dance backgrounds, the residency includes workshops, creation and a live performance on 14 March.

Call for Projects
2027 European Year of the Normans

The Normandy Region invites stakeholders from Normandy, France, Ireland, the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, Southern Italy, Flanders, Norway and Denmark to respond to a call for projects to jointly create the programme of the European Year of the Normans in 2027.
For all funding applications, the project leader must be an organisation based in Normandy (organisations based in the partner territories can indirectly benefit from the funds if they are developing a collaborative project with organisations based in Normandy).
If you are organising projects or events that fit the narrative, or are planning regular events or projects specifically under the 2027 Year of the Normans banner, register your project using the dedicated form at 2027, European Year of the Normans | Région Normandie
Registering your event or project will allow you to use the official logo, and will ensure your event or project is registered as part of the online event programme and online platforms for the Year which, will help ensure overall coherence and avoid scheduling conflicts.

The strong artistic ties between France and Ireland are highlighted through exciting exhibitions in 2025 at the National Gallery of Ireland.
Picasso: From the Studio is a landmark collaboration between the National Gallery of Ireland and the Musée Picasso-Paris. This major exhibition features 60 works spanning 50 years,and traces his journey from the vibrant studios of Montmartre in the 1920s to the sunlit interiors of of his final home in Mougins. Now open until 22 February 2026.
A special in-conversation event with Joanne Snrech, Curator in charge of Paintings, Musée national Picasso-Paris and Janet McLean, Curator of Modern Art at the National Gallery of Ireland will take place on 15th January - More info & Bookings here!
To mark this collaboration, the French Embassy has developed L'Art en FLE, a free educational toolkit to promote French language learning through art. Try it out here!
Also on display until 25 January 2026, the gallery presents Maurice Marinot: The Wild Beast of Glass, a showcase of the French artist’s groundbreaking glasswork.

In partnership with the French Embassy in Ireland, Dolphin's Barn library is hosting a new French Film Club on the first Wednesday of every month, featuring a screening of a French-language film with English subtitles. This month's film screening will take place on Wednesday 14 January December at 6.30pm.
This month's film is Toni (Toni en famille) ,directed by Nathan Ambrosioni. Starring Camille Cottin ( Call My Agent), which is also presented online as part of First Fortnight Mental Health Festival.

2026 Franco-Irish Forum for Culinary Arts Hospitality and Tourism (FICAHT)

The Embassy of France in Ireland is organizing the next Franco-Irish Forum for Culinary Arts Hospitality and Tourism (FICAHT), which will take place in Dublin on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th June 2026 in Liberties College.
It consists in a 2-day seminar in partnership with City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB) and Education and Training Board Ireland (ETBI) on the following topic: A Franco-Irish reflection on skills for tomorrow’s Culinary Arts, Hospitality and Tourism sectors. The aim of this edition is to bring together the various stakeholders and reflect on the needs of the market in Culinary Arts, Hospitality and Tourism. This edition primarily targets professionals in the sector, teachers, and businesses.

Choix Goncourt des étudiants 2025-2026

The Prix Goncourt is a prestigious French competition that rewards the best contemporary book written in French and published by a francophone editor. Since 2021, on the French Embassy in Ireland’s initiative, each year, French-speaking students from all around Ireland, coordinated by the different universities’ French departments, gather in reading groups to study the books shortlisted for the Prix Goncourt, and select the Choix Goncourt des étudiants. The final deliberation will take place at the Alliance Française as part of the Franco-Irish literary festival on Friday, March 20, 2026.
If you are student of an Irish university and wish to participate in the reading groups and to be part of a prestigious jury, please contact the French Department of your institution.

Call for Projects: Irish Artists – Memory of the Irish Hospital in Saint-Lô

Irish artists are invited to take part in a special call for projects dedicated to the Memory of the Irish Hospital in Saint-Lô (Normandy) and a Tribute to Samuel Beckett, taking place in July 2026.Organised by Arts et Architectures à l’Ouest, in partnership with the City of Saint-Lô and L’Usine Utopik, this initiative seeks in-situ sculptural works reflecting on solidarity, memory, and artistic heritage.
This project marks the 80th anniversary of the Irish Hospital, established by the Irish Red Cross in 1945, where Samuel Beckett served as steward.
