the ebook preorder for the eleventh Walker Papers, SHAMAN RISES is also up now!

AND

so is the ebook preorder for BEARY LITTLE CHRISTMAS, the final Renaissance Shifters book :)

Behind The Scenes: I’m pretending this month’s newsletter is late because I wanted to have a bunch of preorder links and things for you, but in actual fact, I’ve just been really, really busy.

I finished writing a third book for the year in May, and am about 12k into the next one. I’ve cracked 250,000 words for the year. By comparison, last year, which was my previous best-ever writing year, I had done about 206K by the end of June, so I’m...writing a lot this year.

A big chunk of my time this month was spent working on a detailed synopsis for a book that I’ll be trying to get traditionally published, because one of the truths I’ve discovered about me as a writer is that often, if I do a detailed synopsis, I figure out all the sticking points ahead of time and then the actual writing goes VERY VERY FAST, which is what I’m hoping will happen with this book. :)

There’s been a ton of other admin, too – page proofs for an upcoming cozy mystery, minor edits for another upcoming paranormal romance, poking gently at the SEDUCTION OF SHARK-MAN crowdfund project – and just generally trying to grind through a lot of things that will hopefully make the next few months flow more easily before I have to do this again. :)

A Bit Of Chat: I TOOK A WEEK OFF!!!

I managed to take my birthday week off at the beginning of the month, and in that time went to see my amazing PT who lives on the other side of the country and beat me up real good :) I also bought a new bike and have been cycling (goodness I’m in lousy shape) and I’m pretty sure it’s been pretty good for me. And I’ve a friend visiting now, so I’ve taken several half days this week and gone to do stuff with her, which has been absolutely wonderful! Who knew that time off was so great?!

Let’s see. I blew through Livia Day’s Cafe La Femme cozies a couple weeks ago, those were fun. I’ve read several of her books under various names and they’ve all been charming, so worth checking out! And my friend Matthew Dow Smith’s latest October Girl graphic novel just came out and I got that, which was splendid, and Elva Birch’s Lion in Wait was out last month!

Oh, and I got to read an early copy of the now-available Thieftess by Alethea Kontis, which is part of an ongoing series in a truly complex fairy tale world with tons of adventure and romance!

I have watched very, very little TV or movies lately, weirdly enough. I did go see the new He-Man film, which was exactly what you should expect from a He-Man movie (ie, not much) but it had its charm and the young man playing Adam/He-Man was kind of great. :) Other than that I think it’s mostly been Tracker, which is the lowest-stakes-nominally-high-stakes tv show I’ve ever seen. It requires extremely little of me as a viewer and right now I really appreciate that...

And finally, HEARTBREAKINGLY, our Masks of Nyarlathotep game has come to an end. We all survived and more or less saved the world, but after 41 sessions and 2 years of playing, the entire gaming group has honestly had to take a minute to mourn and try to adjust to the idea of not playing it anymore. We have had simply the absolute best time imaginable with it, and we’re all really emotional over it wrapping.

So that’s me this month. I’ll be back in a few days with the almost-final chapters of SHARK-MAN, and then we’ll wrap that up in July and launch the crowdfund in August! Eeee, very excite! :D
