Set in a busy Czech village bound by tradition and tangled in secrets, The Bartered Bride is a fast-paced comic opera where two young lovers attempt to rewrite the rules. To be together, they need to outwit a meddling matchmaker, sidestep an unwanted marriage contract and survive the arrival of a traveling circus. Smetana’s melodic score bursts with infectious folk rhythms, dazzling duets and the vibrant energy of its famous overture and dances. Irish National Opera’s energetic production brings a fresh musical perspective, with conductor Richard Peirson leading his own dynamic new arrangement of Smetana’s beloved score. Axis Ballymun and Chamber Choir Ireland are delighted to present the annual SING Christmas Concert, one of Ballymun's favourite Christmas traditions. Local participants take to the stage alongside some of the Chamber Choir of Ireland’s top singers.
Each year, SING brings locals from Ballymun and its surrounding areas together for weekly workshops to form a ‘from scratch’ choir, working with the professional singers of the Chamber Choir of Ireland to prepare for a festive Gala Concert at Axis Ballymun. Book your free ticket for a wonderful evening of festive song on Tuesday 2nd December at 8pm.
