Abhaile; publishing poetry from Ireland and the United Kingdom
Writer, editor, and broadcaster Tracy Gaughan is based in Galway, Ireland. Twice shortlisted for the Galway Arts Trust and New Writer Award, her poetry and short fiction have been widely published. She presents the poetry show WestWords and received an MA in International Literatures and Media in 2018.

North American Time: publishing poetry from The United States and Canada
Felicia McCarthy is a poet with ink in her blood. Her mother, Mgt McDonough was a journalist at The Chicago Tribune. Steve McDonough was Science reporter for UPI. Frank McDonough was Managing Editor of Better Homes & Gardens. Felicia lives in Galway. Salmon Poetry will publish her debut collection in 2021.

An Astráil: publishing poetry from Australia and New Zealand
Denise has a background in book publishing in the UK and Australia. Her poetry is widely published and awarded, including first prize in the Adelaide Plains Poetry Competition (2019), commendation in the ACU Poetry Prize (2018) and shortlisting in the Robert Graves Poetry Prize (2018). Her debut poetry collection, ‘The Beating Heart’, will be published by Ginninderra Press (2020).

Translation Po-Int: publishing international poetry and poetry in translation
Clara Burghelea is a Romanian-born poet with an MFA in Poetry from Adelphi University. Recipient of the Robert Muroff Poetry Award, her poems and translations appeared in Ambit, HeadStuff, Waxwing, The Cortland Review and elsewhere. Her latest collection ‘The Flavor of The Other’ was published in 2020 with Dos Madres Press.
- For international poetry, submit between three and five poems.
- For Poetry in translation submit a maximum of three poems
- Where appropriate, translations require authorisation of the author or their estate
- Include an author biography in the third person and not more than 50 words. For translated poetry, I require the biography of both the translator and the poet being translated.
- Include a print quality author image. For translated work, I require an image of both the translator and the poet being translated.

The Write Life: publishing essays and creative nonfiction from established and emerging writers
Clare Morris taught in the UK and Spain and also worked as a Research Fellow at Exeter University where she completed her PhD. A regular contributor to The Blue Nib, she is a poet who often collaborates with abstract artist, Nigel Bird.
- Submissions of essays and creative nonfiction between 500 and 1500 words.
- Include an author biography in the third person and not more than 50 words.
- Include a print quality author image.
- Work that takes as its theme the writing life or the craft of writing is preferred.

Seanchaí: publishing short fiction by emerging and established authors
Eugen Bacon is African Australian. Her work has won, been shortlisted, longlisted or commended in national and international awards, including the Bridport Prize, Copyright Agency Prize, Australian Shadows Awards and Nommo Award for Speculative Fiction by Africans.
- Submissions of literary fiction and flash fiction between 200 and 2500 words.

The Critical Nib: publishing reviews of new poetry and new literary fiction by new and established writers and poets
Emma Lee is the recipient of the 2019 and 2020 Best Reviewer Saboteur Award. Her publications include ‘The Significance of a Dress’ (Arachne, 2020) and ‘Ghosts in the Desert’ (IDP, 2015). She co-edited ‘Over Land, Over Sea’, (Five Leaves, 2015). As well as curating the Critical Nib, Emma reviews for a number of magazines.
- Submissions of reviews should be between 500 and 1500 words
- Include the books isbn, the publisher and the price.
- Include a print quality image of the books cover.

Important: The Blue Nib General Guidelines:
- Submissions are considered for either the digital platform or for an upcoming print issue. If you are only interested in having your work appear in print then we cannot consider it. An editor will notify you once a decision has been made on your work, if you have not received a notification after 30 days, please send a follow up email to the editor handling your submission.
- Submissions need to be of unpublished work.
- We do not accept simultaneous submissions.
- Author bios should be no more than 50 words. Read Writing your author bio here.
- Author Images should be .png or .jpeg and of good ‘print’ quality.
- House style: Capitalise and bold your Titles and insert page breaks. Use ‘single quotes’ (not “double”) and italics for emphasis and extracts (not CAPS). Use a single space after full points. (not double . )
- Written files should be MS Word. Format as follows; Times New Roman, 12pt and single spaced for poetry, double spaced for articles and short fiction. Read Stop Making Your Editor’s Life Miserable for tips on formatting.
- Sound files for The Ink Pods should be mp3, mp4 or m4a or wav files.
- The Blue Nib is not yet a paying market.
If your files don’t match those that our system can handle, a quick google search will take you to any number of free sites that will convert your files.
