A Celebration of a Legend

The Songs of Joni Mitchell
29 Oct | The MAC

Following a sold-out debut at the Roundhouse, acclaimed tours and rave reviews, we're thrilled to bring The Songs of Joni Mitchell to the festival.

Jesca Hoop and Lail Arad perform intimate interpretations of their favourite Joni Mitchell songs, joined by pianist Richard Sears and a special guest still to be announced. Previous collaborators include Kate Stables (This Is The Kit), Vashti Bunyan, Simon Armitage, Lisa Hannigan and Gail Ann Dorsey.

Originally created by Lail Arad for Joni Mitchell’s 80th birthday, the show has been described as “a perfect celebration of Joni Mitchell” (Get In Her Ears), with “heartfelt and intricate performances”.

Three Choreographers.
One Extraordinary Evening.

Nōs | Luail
6 & 7 Nov | The MAC

After last year's exhilarating Dancehall, Luail return to the Festival with Nōs.

Bringing together works by internationally acclaimed choreographers Akram Khan, Oona Doherty and Liz Roche, Nōs is a thrilling night of contemporary dance from Ireland's National Dance Company.

Kaash by Akram Khan, first performed in 2002, is rooted in the rhythmic complexity of Khan’s classical background, with set design by Anish Kapoor and a powerful score by Nitin Sawhney.

Oona Doherty’s Lazarus (2016) is a deeply affecting work from the Belfast choreographer. Reimagined for the Luail ensemble, Lazarus is raw, confrontational, and emotionally charged.

Completing Nōs are two works from Liz Roche’s 12 Minute Dances (2009), set to music by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Julia Wolfe and Ed Rosenberg III.

Showcasing the extraordinary talent of Luail's dancers, Nōs brings together three defining voices in contemporary dance.
