The Monthly, Community Arts Partnership's online arts sector magazine, dance edition, looks into the work of local dancers and dance organisations, particularly those with an orientation towards community. We look also at dancers and dance organisations internationally, connecting them to those working locally.
This edition we talk to Australian dancer, Talitha Maslin. She talks about learning to dance in a small country town in Western Australia, studying at the Western Australia Academy for Performing Arts (WAAPA) and from there developing her career in dance. Talitha discusses her influences, her approach to dance and talks about working in Europe as well as working in Northern Ireland on the Light Theatre Company's immersive art piece, "Lucia Dances".
We include links to some of Talitha's influences, Lucy Guerin and Chrissie Parrott, and we include links to work from other Australian dance companies, Australian Dance Theatre and Co3 Contemporary Dance Company.
Community Arts Partnership is also delighted to announce that applications are now open for the Anne O’Donoghue Award 2026/27 (closing this Friday 26th June), a unique professional development opportunity established to honour the life and legacy of the late Anne O’Donoghue and to support the continuing growth of Northern Ireland’s Community Arts sector. The award recognises the vital role played by Arts Managers and Administrators in sustaining and developing creative and participatory practice.
And finally, as many readers would know, Community Arts Partnership was moving office during the Christmas/New Year period. We are now settled into our new premises: Floor 1, 551-555 Lisburn Road, Belfast BT9 7CQ, and we are in the process of resuming normal services including room bookings for workshops, meetings and events.
