If you are no longer interested in our emails you will be saving the environment by unsubscribing and reducing our email service subscription bill.   August 31st is the deadline for submitting to the Fool for Poetry Chapbook Competition Win €1,000, three nights accommodation at the Cork International Poetry Festival, a reading spot at the festival and 25 complimentary copies of your published chapbook.   We ran our first poetry chapbook competition in 2005. Among the debut poets introduced by the long-running series are Victoria Kennefick, Audrey Molloy, Maya C. Popa and Heather Treseler. Previously published poets have also been selected for the series, such as Partridge Boswell, Victor Tapner and Lisa Katz Duncan. A second entrant also benefits each year from publication, €500 and being hosted at the Cork International Poetry Festival. Some previous winning titles have received reviews in Poetry Review, Poetry Ireland Review and the Poetry Book Society's Bullitin. Enter here. Fiction Fans Keep These Dates in Your Diary! Southword Poetry Podcast The Southword Poetry Podcast is produced by the Munster Literature Centre and can be found wherever you usually find your podcasts. Each episode features a scintillating discussion with a poet reading from their most recent collection and also another poet reading a poem of theirs from a recent issue of Southword. Featured poets in the first series included Paul Muldoon, Jenna Clake, Ishion Hutchinson, Ciaran O'Driscoll, Shangyang Fang, Molly Twomey & others. The fourth season is being released during 2026 and again has Professor Clíona Ní Ríordáin as presenter. This year's featured poets will include Patricia Smith, Billy Ramsell, Alvy Carragher, Jericho Brown, Mairead Medbh, Stephen Sexton, Rosamund Taylor, Annemarie Ní Churreáin.
