Following sell-out runs in Galway and Dublin, we're over the moon to announce that our five-star production of Macbeth will return next spring for a three-city tour!

In other news, we have appointed a new Chief Executive Officer, we recently paid a visit to Áras an Uachtaráin, and we're currently in New York with our production of Endgame.

    Druid's new Chief Executive Officer

    The Board of Druid Theatre is delighted to announce the appointment of Maureen Kennelly as the company’s Chief Executive Officer.

    Maureen is an experienced and accomplished arts leader with a legacy of achievement across various roles and a deep knowledge of the cultural sector.

    Druid at Áras an Uachtaráin

    Invited by President Higgins in honour of Druid’s 50th anniversary, we performed Synge's Riders to the Sea at Áras an Uachtaráin for Culture Night a few weeks ago.

    Following the performance, Druid’s co-founders Garry Hynes and Marie Mullen participated in a post-show discussion, hosted by celebrated archivist Catriona Crowe.

    There will be two books published to mark our 50th anniversary.

    Druid Theatre: Fifty Years
    A fully-illustrated and authorised history of Druid by Professor Patrick Lonergan, with a foreword by Fintan O'Toole.

    Druid Theatre 1975-2025: 50 Years of New Irish Plays
    A collection of six of Druid's most impactful plays together in one volume for the first time.

    University of Galway symposium

    We're really honoured that the Department of Drama and Theatre Studies at University of Galway is hosting a symposium to mark our 50th anniversary.

    Druid at 50: People, Place & Performance will take place this Friday, 7 November, on the university campus. A limited amount of free tickets are available.

    We're currently in New York for a five-week run of Endgame at the Irish Arts Center which is earning rave reviews from US critics.
