Twilight Market and Arts Night |

Artists’ Open Studio Weekend |

A number of artists and makers will open their studios for visitors to take a sneak peek behind the scenes. Open Studios are taking place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August.
Some of the artists will also be facilitating their own workshops for smaller groups of participants.

Creative Peninsula Exhibitions |

This year’s Creative Peninsula Exhibition at Ards Arts Centre has the theme ‘Origins.’ Open from 31 July, the exhibition will feature exclusive works by the finest artists and makers in Ards and North Down.
There will also be a special exhibition ‘The Shape of Human Touch’ at the Discovery Hub in Ards Visitor Information Centre featuring work by Tracey Johnston Ceramics, 3 - 31 Aug. |

Prehistoric Ulster: Pots, People and Places |
|
|
|
This exhibition will showcase replica pots from Neolithic and Bronze Age from Co. Down focusing on how they were made, what materials and tools were used, and what we know about the original potters from the archaeological record.
The replica Pots from a collection by John Martin, are taken to the Places where they were discovered and are shown to the People who live there today. An exhibition exploring 90 years of Bangor Drama Club which was founded in October 1935 by talented local residents with an interest in the theatre.
This exhibition highlights some of these important events and influential people and explores the contribution the club has made to the development of the dramatic arts in this area.

Join us for a fascinating journey back to the 17th century with military heritage expert, Dr James O’Neill.
The River Blackwater was once one of the most hotly contested places in Ireland throughout the 16th and 17th centuries. An enduring legacy of this turmoil has been the formidable stronghold at Charlemont. Constructed in 1602, it bore the brunt of three major wars, one of which brought Marshal Frederick Schomberg, the commander‑in‑chief of William of Orange’s expedition to Ireland in 1689.
