| Cecilia Vicuña - A second telling: art’s unmaking and remaking of history
Wed 25 Mar / 18:00 / Lecture Room Dr Catherine Gander academic and poet (Associate Professor of American Literature, Dept. of English, Maynooth University) presents a talk in response to Cecilia Vicuña’s exhibition Reverse Migration, a Poetic Journey.
In this lecture writer and scholar Dr Gander considers how Vicuña’s lifetime of socially oriented art builds an alternative historical archive – one that presents a collective, anticolonial telling of humanity’s story on our shared planet. Through the practice of Vicuña’s this lecture looks at art’s capacity to undo colonial narratives of dominance, in which to offer another, more collective and relational history, in its place. |
