☘️ St Patrick’s Weekend at 2 Royal Avenue ☘️ This March, 2 Royal Avenue came alive with music, dance, and community spirit as we celebrated St Patrick’s Day with a fantastic weekend of free events.
🎶 Friday 13 March We kicked things off with a lively Schools Traditional Music Performance, welcoming talented young musicians from across the greater Belfast area. Delivered in partnership with Glengormley School of Traditional Music, the day was filled with energy, showcasing the passion and skill of the next generation of trad performers.
💃 Saturday 14 March Visitors stepped into the rhythm during our Ceili Dancing Workshop. From complete beginners to those brushing up on their steps, everyone got involved and enjoyed learning in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
🕺 Sunday 15 March 🥁🎻 The celebrations continued with a Set Dancing Workshop, where participants embraced the festive spirit and built their confidence ahead of St Patrick’s Day. Later that day, our Highland Bagpipe & Snare Drum Taster Session gave attendees the chance to try something new, offering a hands-on and immersive introduction to pipe band music.
We wrapped up the weekend with a vibrant Traditional Music Session, bringing together learners and musicians from across the city and beyond to share tunes, connect, and celebrate traditional music.

As part of our St Patrick’s Day celebrations at 2 Royal Avenue, we were delighted to welcome Niamh Noade — a name many will recognise from her unforgettable Britain’s Got Talent audition — for a truly special afternoon of music and conversation.
The event began with an engaging “in conversation” session with Neal McClelland, where Niamh shared insights into her musical journey, inspirations, and recent rise to national attention. This was followed by a stunning live performance that captivated the audience, showcasing her remarkable voice, harp playing, and emotional depth.
The free, drop-in event drew a fantastic crowd and created a warm, celebratory atmosphere in the heart of the city. Niamh’s blend of contemporary style and traditional influence made for a memorable St Patrick’s Day moment, and we were thrilled to host such an exciting and inspiring talent as part of our programme.

| | | 🎭 Polyphonic – Echoes and Embers It’s been an exhilarating time for Arts Across the Genres! Our first project, Polyphonic: Echoes and Embers, reached a thrilling conclusion with its final showcase on Saturday 28 March at The MAC — and what a performance it was!
The participants wrote, produced, and performed the entire show themselves, delivering an electric, unforgettable experience that had the audience buzzing.
The project also gave rise to a Social Action initiative, featuring a poem and short film written, and produced entirely by the participants.
Their creative work is a heartfelt gift to Belfast, reflecting their hopes and aspirations for the city’s future. Below is the poem they crafted — a beautiful reminder of the power of art to inspire, connect, and imagine a brighter tomorrow.

Cultural Spaces Programme – Come on Over: Bringing People & Places Together Through Culture ✨ |
|
| |
We were delighted to kick off our first co-designed capacity-building sessions in March, bringing together our initial six venues for a day of connection, creativity, and cultural exchange.
The first session, Grassroots Groups, took place at An Cultúrlann and welcomed participants from a range of community organisations across the city who are part of the Come On Over venues, including Cultúrlann, Banana Block, Discover Ulster-Scots, EastSide Partnership at Templemore Baths, The MAC Theatre, and the Belfast Intercultural Romanian Community.
The day began with engaging language activities, introducing participants to Ulster-Scots, Irish, and Romanian. This was followed by a vibrant Romanian cultural experience, where attendees explored the Mărțișor tradition — a celebration of hope and renewal — and even learned some new dances along the way.
At lunchtime, participants enjoyed a rich and varied spread reflecting Belfast’s diverse food culture. From traditional favourites like Irish stew, fish and chips, and fifteens, to Indian, Chinese, and Romanian dishes, the meal offered something for everyone and sparked plenty of conversation.
In the afternoon, the group took part in a creative art session led by facilitator Shahrukh Asad, providing a space to reflect, collaborate, and express the day’s shared experiences.
Overall, it was a fantastic and inspiring day — full of learning, cultural discovery, and a strong sense of community togetherness. |
