Let's talk about censorship.
The entire ethos of the arts, and especially independent art, is to allow voices to be heard, whatever they may be saying. So, why do artistic bodies have authority to censor these voices?
We have seen so many cases of festivals, news outlets, and now even the BAFTAs censoring, especially, pro-Palestinian voices (despite keeping in racial slurs). Is it about maintaining neutrality? Or pushing an agenda? How do we, as independent filmmaker, overcome these barriers?
The answer is, we don't let them stop us.
