Hi Stu,
Today, we’re proud to launch the Principles for Mentally Healthy Productions – one of the largest and most ambitious industry wide actions on mental health in UK film and television in a generation.
Developed with more than 45 organisations across the screen sector, these nine Principles provide a clear, practical and evidence based framework designed to improve the day today working lives of freelancers - tackling burnout, long hours, poor working practices, and the pressures that so often shape life on production.
With Channel 4, Disney+ UK, Banijay UK, Sky and UKTV among the first organisations to pilot implementation, this marks a decisive shift towards productions that are better planned, better supported and better led - creating environments where freelancers can do their best work without compromising their wellbeing.
Because everyone deserves productions that value people as much as output: fairer schedules, respectful communication, psychologically safe workplaces, and support when challenges arise.
These Principles represent a meaningful step forward for film and TV - helping build healthier, safer and more sustainable careers for freelancers across the industry.
