Netflix launches new AAPI Hub for AAPI Heritage Month
In honor of this year's AAPI Heritage Month, Netflix has launched a dedicated collection as well as a national ad campaign to celebrate AAPI creators. The "Celebrate Asian American & Pacific Islander Stories" collection includes Netflix original series, films, and specials starring AAPI creators. The ad campaign includes a video message with a host of AAPI influencers and changemakers, as well as national billboards and a partnership with non-profit Act to Change to sponsor the third annual national AAPI Day Against Bullying and Hate.

Amazon Studios to host virtual conference on AAPI representation in media
Amazon Studios has teamed up with the Producer's Guild of America (PGA) on a virtual conference focused on AAPI representation in media. Amazon Studios Voices: API Representation in Film and Media will focus on how Hollywood can continue to work towards anti-racism and be a tool for broad scale social change. Says Latasha Gillespie, global head of DEI for Amazon Studios: “Amazon Studios DEI has been diving deep into our own data, examining our systems and structures, and reimagining our policies to be unapologetic about what inclusive, authentic, and nuanced storytelling looks like."

AAPI creators discuss media representation at UTA Inclusion Panel
Creators Jon M. Chu, Fala Chen, Daniel Wu, and Mary Lee, head of film at A-Major Media - sat down with UTA to discuss the importance of representation for the AAPI community. Chen, will portray Jiang Li in the upcoming Marvel flick Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, “We just need more complex, important roles that tell our experiences as an immigrant...but also American; but also someone who’s second or third-generation American, born and raised here who actually don’t speak any language other than English.”

The third edition of the CAPE List amplifies AAPI storytelling
The Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment (CAPE) has teamed up with The Black List for the third edition of the CAPE List, which highlights the best in Asian and Pacific Islander storytelling. This time, the winning writers will have the opportunity to have their work read by executives at major film studios A Major, Annapurna, Lord Miller, and M88. The scripts must feature a lead character who identifies as AAPI, and must include authentic and accurate Asian and Pacific Islander representation. The character must be so integral to the narrative that if removed, it would significantly alter or affect the story.
