Nadia Abass-MaddenĀ is a first-generation Lebanese American writer.Ā She served as a writer/Executive Story Editor on FOXās 9-1-1 where she drew from her expertise as a former 911 dispatcher, putting the drama and trauma on the page.

Nadia won Final Draftās Big Break contest for her original pilot, Tongs of Chinatown. Her breakthrough moment, however, came when she was interviewed for a researcher position by the showrunner and co-creator of 9-1-1, Tim Minear. Nadia parlayed that meeting into a pitch ā selling a spec in the room for a two-part episode that garnered high ratings ā and was hired as Staff Writer shortly afterwards. She continued writing for 9-1-1 for three and a half years.

Before becoming a writer, Abass-Madden had a 20-year career as a police and fire dispatcher in Riverside County, California. When she wasn't dispatching emergencies, she was earning a first-degree black belt in Kenpo Karate. While working in law enforcement, Nadia met her spouseāa future Homicide Captaināproving that all of her past is prologue for her current writing endeavors.
