Maps have always been the foundation of how humans understood their surroundings. Historians and Artists make use of the science of maps to interpret and comment on the world.
 
The artists and scientists in the show use maps in different ways to highlight how the earth and space can be understood. From maps of comets, asteroids and black holes to sculptures of the coast, the artworks reflect the beauty of maps in many forms.

Echoes of Yesterday exhibition by Saffron Monk-Smith aims to explore the increasing importance of memory in her life. Her intimate paintings capture a visual diary; places of passing insignificance or of particular importance.
 
Saffron Monks-Smith graduated in 2020 with a Masters in Art from Ulster University. She has already received several awards for her art and her new work builds on this. Her current artworks expand on the idea of memory and atmosphere.
 
Her work featured in an exhibition of Recent Female Graduates in London in 2024 and it is held in many collections, including the permanent collection of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

Artwork in the Gallery

ArtisAnn Gallery is based on Bloomfield Avenue in East Belfast You will be able to find high quality art at this new friendly gallery in East Belfast, featuring emerging and established artists working in a range of styles and mediums.
 
Occupying two floors, a monthly themed exhibition programme has been scheduled for the first floor, while the ground floor is arranged Salon Style, with the intent of displaying as many amazing art works as possible.  It is owned by Ann and Ken Bartley, who have twenty years experience in the art world as artists, collectors and curators.
 
The gallery has a friendly and fuss-free atmosphere, and offers a friendly, knowledgeable service to suit every art lover, whether it is for home, business or for a special occasion.

Who can apply?

Anyone who is:

Be 18 or older;
Be in permanent paid employment or retired and receiving a pension, or be a houseperson with a partner in permanent paid employment or be self employed;
Be a resident in the UK (or a British Crown Dependency if approved by Hitachi Capital) for a minimum of 12 months;
Be able to provide acceptable proof of address (except where the goods and/or services are to be delivered to their residential address) and proof of signature;
Be Able to Make payments by direct debit; and
Be purchasing the goods and/or services for personal use and not for business use.

 

What do I need?

Photographic ID (driving licence, passport, etc.)
Proof of ID – this could be in the form of a utility bill or just simply your driving licence -- along with a credit or debit card as proof of signature
Bank account that allows direct debit
Employer / pension / disability allowance details


 
Is there a limit?

You can buy any artwork over £100 from the ArtisAnn Gallery
You can put a deposit on more expensive purchases – for example, if it costs £3,000, pay £500 up front and the rest via the Own Art Scheme.
