WE'RE STILL HERE

Bonjourno people. Probably like all of you, we've been a little in the shadows the past few weeks. Although probably for different reasons.

We've been very busy with reading sitcom script submissions and watching shorts, as well as planning our screenings in Edinburgh and London this year.

We're working towards our return to screening during the Fringe and plan to screen at Cameo with three back-to-back programmes from the 2025 programme. As soon as we have the thumbs up from Edinburgh Council that the programme won't start WW3, we should hopefully have ticket information on sale.

Unfortunately, we've been thrown a slight curveball for London: our recent home, Rich Mix, is undergoing planned renovations during our previously planned dates. So we're busy looking towards viable alternatives. So hang tight!

In other news, we are delighted to be collaborating with two top-tier European Festivals this year to bring some Short Com flavour. Odense International Film Festival have kindly asked us to create a late-night comedy short film night for them as part of their festival. We've created a bespoke programme of some of our favourite films over the years and will be screening on the 25th of August. In late September, we'll be collaborating with our Austrian friends, Slash Film Festival, to create a raucous night of out-there comedy shorts that have graced both our festivals over the years. If you just happen to be traversing through those cities or local areas, we hope to see you there.

If you were looking to submit your short to Short Com, the late deadline is tonight 26th, with the final deadline on July 10th. You can submit via Filmfreeway here Su

We are now on the FINAL Deadline period for the Short Com TV Sitcom Writing Competition. We've very much enjoyed the submissions so far, and it's great to see new writers and some familiar names return. The cyber doors will close one day after the World Cup Final, 20th July. Which, unless you're French or Argentinian, probably won't affect you too much.

We've got a top judging panel to decide upon the winner amongst the 5 SHORTLISTED top scripts. Polly Howarth from Kudos, Morwenna Gordon at Expectation and Janette Linden at PBJ Management.

For all the rules and how to enter, you can find them on this page here.

All Quacked Up

Short Com alumni James Button 2025 selected utterly mad cap blockbuster, The Quackening, has just been released on the stream-o-sphere via Director's Notes. Find out more about the insane lengths and DIY filmmaking that went on behind it here. And watch the Duck Demon shenanigans below.

Thank you folks, stay cool and, stay cool.

LOVEB
