What’s coming up

Events round up with Head of Awards, Events & Partnerships, Claudia Merhej

Claudia Merhej | Head of Awards, Events and Partnerships, WFTV

Hello everyone,

Welcome to November with WFTV!

Tonight we have a conversation with the creative team behind BBC documentary Inside the Cult of the Jesus Army. It began as a dream of community life, but a 1970s Christian commune soon became a nightmare of abuse, the scale of which is only just coming to light. Director Ellena Wood and Executive Producers Katie Buchanan will be joined by Helen Littleboy as they discuss their roles and insights on the documentary, moderated by BBC commissioning editor Daisy Scalchi.

Next Monday 10 November we’re hosting a session on child performance regulations with The Children’s Production Support Hub. Navigating your way around the current child performance regulations can seem daunting. This informative session with offers a practical guide to everyone working with children between casting brief to wrap, covering topics including safeguarding and safer recruitment practices, education and UK and international child licensing.

Also on 10 November, don’t miss a conversation with director Kim A. Synder of documentary film The Librarians. As an unprecedented wave of book banning is sparked in Texas, Florida, and beyond, librarians under siege join forces as unlikely defenders fighting for intellectual freedom on the front lines of democracy.

See you at an event soon,

Claudia
