Hi mate, I hope you are having a sparkly day. As a comedian, you're a creative type. You generate ideas and then work hard to write and perform them in the ideal way. You create art, comedy is a top art form, so few barriers to entry... and so I thought today I'd share some tips on creativity with you. I am a huge fan of Steven Pressfields' The War of Art which is jam-packed with tips on how to mix it up with your Muse, recognize common obstacles and how to get the best out of, well, you. The book for is not about comedy, it is about creativity... therefore, it's about comedy! "How many pages have I produced? I don't care. Are they any good? I don't even think about it. All that matters is I've put in my time and hit it with all I've got. All that counts is that, for this day, for this session, I have overcome Resistance." "Rule of thumb: The more important a call or action is to our soul's evolution, the more Resistance we will feel toward pursuing it." "The more Resistance you experience, the more important your unmanifested art/project/enterprise is to you-and the more gratification you will feel when you finally do it." "Procrastination is the most common manifestation of Resistance because it's the easiest to rationalize. We don't tell ourselves, "I'm never going to write my symphony." Instead we say, "I am going to write my symphony; I'm just going to start tomorrow."
