What do the three pamphlets above have in common?
They all began life as winners of the Mslexia Women’s Pamphlet Competition.
We’re a small team of writers and readers – so when one of our winners goes on to win a national poetry award, publish a full collection, or receive a creative bursary, we’re just as thrilled as they are.
And there have been plenty.
In the years since winning the competition, our pamphlet poets have been published by major presses, won national prizes, and continued to build enviable creative careers.
Here are three who took a chance on their poems – and watched their worlds expand.

COURNEY CONRAD
Courtney’s debut I Am Evidence won the 2022 Mslexia Women’s Pamphlet Competition and went on to win the 2023 Michael Marks Poetry Award. She’s since received an Eric Gregory Award, a Bridport Prize Young Writer Award, and a £10,000 UKNA bursary to develop her creative practice. Her work has been featured by Bloodaxe Books and praised for its power, lyricism and emotional honesty.

Each of these women started in the same place – with a pamphlet they believed in and a decision to take a chance on it.
How would it feel to see your work in print? To know readers are holding your words in their hands?
Entering the Mslexia Women’s Pamphlet Competition gives you that chance.
Who knows – next time, it could be your name I’m writing up, your poems in the window of a bookshop, your voice making waves on the poetry scene.
Best of luck,
Lucy x
P.s. Deadline for this year's pamphlet comp is 8 Dec
