Studio Brick
August 2008 - update

Dear friends,

Looks like Summer is sticking around for a little longer!  Why not come join us for some tasting events?

Just a reminder that the saké tasting is tonight.  Hope to see some of you there!

Tuesday, August 12 - Saké tasting @ Studio Brick  214 1st Ave S, Lower Level

Saké tasting with Johnnie Stroud of Saké Nomi, 8 - 10pm

Are you a fan of premium Japanese saké or simply interested in learning more about it?  Join us for an informal (and informative) tasting with Johnnie from Saké Nomi, Seattle's first store and tasting bar dedicated entirely to premium Japanese saké.  We will be pouring representative examples from each of the three main grades of saké (Junmai, Ginjo and Daiginjo)There is a requested donation of $10 per person for the tasting.

Feel free to arrive anytime between 8 and 9pm.  I'll try to have the door @ 214 1st Ave S open, but just in case security asks us to close it, just give me a call and I'll come up to meet you.  206.612.3081 - I'll have the number posted on the front door as well.  We are downstairs, in the lower-level arcade.

Friday, August 14 - Awake/Asleep @ Poco Wine Room  1408 E Pine @ 14th

Artist Reception, 6 - 9pm

Awake/Asleep, a series of photographs by Thomas Park, will be exhibited at Poco Wine Room from mid-August to mid-September.  These are photographs of the quiet and sleeping places that have been lost beneath the public consciousness in our cities and towns.  This series ties in with Blick zum Objekt as some of the locations depicted in Awake/Asleep served as settings for Blick.

Please join us for drinks or for dinner!  If you haven't been to Poco before, they have a full menu, from small bites to main dishes.  And I hear a rumour that they are adding a pork belly confit to the specials!  Poco has a two-part wine list; one side of focuses on Pacific Northwest wines and the other on global wines.  It's just a lovely, unpretentious gem of a wine bar.  Poco is open Monday - Saturday.

Saturday, August 23 - Wine tasting @ Studio Brick  214 1st Ave S, Lower Level

Wine tasting with Peter Moore of Poco Wine Room, 4 - 6pm

Bid farewell to the summer with an afternoon flight of summery wines, poured by the expert hand of our friend Peter.  Come, relax, and learn a bit about some of Washington's great wines.

Please RSVP to tho...@thomasparkphoto.com if you're interested in attending this event.  There is a requested donation of $10 per person for the tasting.

Sunday, August 24 - Lighting workshop @ Studio Brick  214 1st Ave S, Lower Level

Lighting workshop with Thomas Park

The photography workshop is now full.  Please contact tho...@thomasparkphoto.com if you're interested in getting more details on the next workshop, or to get on the waiting list.

My sincere apologies for the additional email.  It was pointed out to me that I'd listed the wrong date for the Awake/Asleep opening @ Poco.  The correct date is Friday August 15.
