Madi output question

Hey all, I have a question Madi output question.  We are trying to feed Pro Tools on a Mac Pro tower from the Vista 5 SR down the Madi outputs using the direct out buses.  We cannot seem to get audio from the Studer to the Mac, but audio is definitely coming from the Mac TO the Studer.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks,

Which MADI card are you using on the Mac? 

Do you have your direct outputs turned on?

If you look in Total Mix do you see levels on the MADI inputs?

Where is your direct out split point?

Protools has limitations on CoreAudio IO. Are you using only the first 32 channels of input? There may be some issues there.

We see input when we go from the main Mac to the backup, but not when we go from Studer to Mac.  The output is before the channel processing, and we have heard signal on an audio output patch of the direct outs.

Are all systems set to 56/64 ch correctly? Is your clock/sample rate configuration correct? Does the RME card show a lock and sync from the ports the console is connected to?

Are the MADI ports both black or blue? Be sure you are using SM or MM fiber where appropriate. 

Another test to isolate the issue would be run a cable into a spare MADI input on the console to see if you get meters there. Then you can isolate the issue to the output of the console or the interface from the console to the PT machine. 

Do you need to use PT? Reaper will do what you want and you can use all inputs on the RME card.
