Has anyone had success running the Virtual Vista while programming a show? I've found that having it online really conflicts with the theater software.  VCA's don't track properly and actor libraries seem to be truncated while running the virtual software.  For example, I can setup 20-30 actors and recall them just fine in normal operation.  When I have the virtual vista online, it might stop after half the list. Even from the desk itself, I can't dial in all of the actors.  Once I disconnect the virtual vista, they rest reappear.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Are these also issues with the vista remote?  I am planning on renting one for a production I have coming up in the late summer and would hope it functions smoother than the virtual.

Thanks so much,

Brian

Yes.  I have seen these issues with Vista Virtual.  Can't say what happens with the remote.

Hi guys,

If it happens in Virtual Vista, it will happen with the Vista Compact Remote as it runs the same software.

I’m re-testing this with Vista 5.2.02 to see if anything has changed.  I’ll let you know.

Cheers,

James

When I've experienced this in the past, it's usually because the ini file for virtual vista says NO for theatre mode when it should say YES.

The only problem I've had with the remote (and virtual vista) is VNC issues for the GC.

I use virtual Vista a lot,  it does have its quirks,  but is very helpful

Like Michael said check the VV ini file to make sure it's set correctly

also check the VV settings to make sure it's set the same as the desk
(Vca  mode,  theater que mode,  etc)

The only problem I have now is that with VV on some times when dialing up an actor name it does not let you land on the actor you want but restarting VV corrects it for a while

I'm on 5.1 let's see What happens with 5.2

I’ve done some more digging on this issue of actors “flickering” in the display, but not being able to select them.

Michael is correct that you have to make sure that VV is set up for “TheatreMode=Yes” in the D950System.ini file.

However, there seems to be an issue with how VV synchronizes with the desk: as you create actors on the desk, they do not get sync’ed to VV automatically.  When they exist on the desk, but not in VV, then you cannot select them on the desk either.

This can be fixed by using the Option -> Refresh Virtual Vista command.

Also, if you create 10 actors, resync VV (re-launch) and then create 10 more actors, you will find that only the first 10 are available to you – alphabetically sorted, so you may have access to older ones and newer ones, but never more than 10.  Again, Option -> Refresh Virtual Vista takes care of this.

Cheers,

James
