At the last get together there was talk of doing another in May, possibly in conduction with Studer. Is there any info on this? I will be out of the country from May 8-17, but would like to attend at any other time.

Studer Vista User Group cumulative suggestions

Important Fixes

1.     The “Input Gain” rotary control knob on the surface will only show the value of the mic preamplifier in the generic display area when global view is set to “Mic Control”; however if any other global view is selected the value is not displayed.  The value of the “Input Gain” needs to be displayed any time the control is used regardless of the global view selection.

2.     In Theatre software when a VCA/mute is added or changed we have to be able to apply it to all or selected ques

3.     When a mask is applied to a snapshot a “check mark” is added next to the name of the snapshot.  With a theater application one might use a variety of masks during programming a production.  Different masks are saved and applied to various snapshots but the “check mark” albeit helpful is not complete information.  To that end, in addition to the “check mark” the name of the saved mask should be displayed next to the “check mark”

4.     When a named mask is changed it should apply to all snapshots using that named mask

5.     On a Vista 5 that has 3 input fader bays, the third bay has the ability to have a “Scroll Lock”.  A handy feature, however it does not work correctly when bay 3 is “Locked” the selected section disappears from bays 1 and 2 and vice-versa.  To that end: when bay 3 is locked it should be able to access all of the fader pages in each of the six sections and this should all be true for bays 1 and 2 to have access to all of the fader pages in each of the six sections when bay 3 is locked.

6.     It would be very helpful if the Control and Mute Group setup button, “Groups”; were to flash and have a time out feature when enabled. or some other big warning

7.     Correct this; VCA column does disappears on its own. (it might be related to strip set up) How ever it does not affect the VCA recorded ques, you just can just not copy VCA events. I can get the column back by clicking on/off the enable VCA events box in snapshot automation options

8.     The button on the control bay for the switch next to the rotaries  (mute or solo off) should be a default state of mute on/off.

9.     Please include a switch, on the “mic control page”, to disable the -20dB pad on the split when the mic input is adjusted below +12dB.

Features Requested

1.     In theatre mode, having the Cue number and name displayed on the surface would be helpful.  Is it possible to use the LED display strip for the joy stick to display the Cue number in the theater cue list?

2.     When “Notch” EQ is selected; it’s value should be displayed on the EQ/Dynamics View in the Graphic Controller display.  Having an graphically understanding of what “notch” is doing in relationship to other filters is a must.

3.     Edit device label rather then fixed label – you are able to edit the user name and fixed label on the patch page, I need sometimes to be able to edit the device label never the fixed label

4.     A lock function for the surface.  A password or button selection on the surface to unlock the surface; could be a part of the “blackout” function.

5.     The ability to break out further the elements of the clipboard library.

6.     Automatic Microphone mixer for 10 assignable input channels  would be a fantastic addition,  similar to a  Dan Dugan auto mixer

7.     Choose compressor type by channel

8.     Peak hold time on meters should be adjustable

H. The ability to physically lock a two channels together – not to a master

9.     An up grade to P & G faders for master section

10. A frequency adjustable compressor (multi band)

11. To be able to combine masks

12. To be able to recall strip setups in snapshots

13. Change buss names for matrixes (currently called Aux busses)

14. An easier place to name channels other than patch window

15. When using library’s include a save as function (update existing)

Question for all Studer users:

Has anyone ever run 2 Vista 5SR control surfaces off of a single Score?

I do not think you can, I believe the mixing takes place in the core

It would be cool if there was a way to do a split like that

However there is a rocket card for Vista, not sure how it's works, I think you need to use rocket mic pres as well

Will not work-The closest thing to it will be the Compact Remote Bay when its available later this year which would allow access to the DSP Core from a remote location.  However this is best viewed as an additional mixing surface rather than a totally separate independent mixing console.

Obviously you can do digital splits or shared I/O schemes using D21M remote frames or as Augie mentioned Rocknet which has the added benefit of a gain tracking system but each mix position requires its own S-Core
