Brokers put together cheaper plans for college students. Even alumni
are allowed to get the "student" health care at MSU if they need it.

Does the health care legislation passed effect anything? 18-26 year
olds (on Sept 26, 2010) are provided coverage; the plan cannot kick
you off - you cannot be denied coverage. In 2014, you will be fined
if you do not have health care.

Do have student health care
====================
MSU - Plan seems to be cheaper than employer plans that the University
has. The low is about $1,400 a year.
UM, UMD, UMF - Does cover and the coverage is broad, but is not
mandatory. International students must have health coverage. They
must have UM health care unless they find BETTER coverage.
WSU - Trying to find a better health insurance plan. Not mandatory.
WMU - Do not have to have health insurance but there is health
insurance available.
MTU - Required for graduate students and international students.
Believed to be a not very great plan. It is currently being rebuilt.
EMU - $800 flat insurance plan. They have a place on campus. It is
not mandatory.

I wasn't at the meeting, but did anyone suggest that health insurance
might be beyond the effectiveness of the group? I understand it may
improve quality of educational facilities - but EVERYTHING could fall
under that. What limits do we have? Has there been any consideration
about how far/thin the projects can and cannot be spread?

Is it appropriate that an educational facility offer these things?
