America is
recruiting a Youth Ambassador to create awareness of the many benefits of
assistive devices for
young people with significant physical disabilities. This project requires
strong networking skills
resulting in measurable outcomes. To find out more about Tetra Society of

related societies, please visit us at www.tetrasociety.org DUTIES: Meet with
the campus
Disability Resource Centre to discuss opportunities of including Tetra
information in the Centre´s
registration packages Distribute Tetra information packages & other relevant
material to students
Exhibit at campus orientation & club registration days and with other
disability organizations (e.g.
NEADS National Educational Association of Disabled Students) Advertise in
on-campus
newspapers and other publications promoting the presence of Tetra on campus
and spotlighting
Tetra services and projects Meet with students with disabilities on a
one-to-one basis and/or
groups to discuss how they might benefit from a customized assistive device
Meet with
engineering, physiotherapy and occupational therapy departments to recruit
student volunteers
Provide mentoring opportunities (with experienced Tetra volunteers) to
student volunteers by
working closely with the local chapter coordinator Follow up with potential
volunteers to ensure
application forms are completed and forwarded to the local chapter
coordinator for processing
Prepare written summaries of all meetings & presentations (agenda, minutes)
& send to National
Coordinator Provide accounting of expenses on a monthly basis to National
Coordinator Prepare
monthly activity report to National Coordinator QUALIFICATIONS: Strong
communication skills
both verbal and written, ability to take initiative, excellent networking
skills, solid organizational &
time management abilities. Knowledge of disability issues and local
community organizations an
asset, but not required. START DATE: ASAP END DATE: March 31, 2009
REMUNERATION:
