As
the disciples of Sheikh Suleiman al-Ulwan
tell (he had been convicted early October
to 15 years in prison), the Islamic scholar invited Abd-al-Aziz Aal ash-Shaikh
and Saleh al-Fawzan, who are known for their support of the apostate regime in
Arabia, to an open debate, writes
UmmaNews.
In
one of his speeches, Sheikh al-Ulwan
said:
"Yes,
we are ready for a debate. We said it before and we say it again: We call
for a debate about what we are upon [i.e. in what we belief], and that it is
the truth, which is stated with evidences from the Book [Koran], Sunna [acts,
sayings of the Prophet] and the Ijma' [consensus]. And we don't want to debate
[them them] in matters of ijtihad, rather we want a debate about the complete
project, the project of Umma [Muslim Community], the complete project of the
religion of Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. We [will] speak about matters with,
"Allah said" and "The messenger said".
And
don't claim to be infallible. Yes indeed, a person affects and misses, has
knowledge and is ignorant, and some issues may not be obvious for him. But why
is it that every time we call them for a debate they flee from it?
We called them to debate on
numerous occasions, and we still call them [to debate with us]. But, with one
condition! It is that [the debate] has to be live, we don't want it to be
recorded, so that before it is aired, things are added or taken from it.
We
want the debate to be live, and that everybody can witness it. Everybody
witnesses it. And everybody can listen to what we [believe] and that what we
are upon is the Truth. And in this age [we live in it], we don't claim that
what we are upon is the sole truth. What we are upon is a form of Ijtihad. We
are not pretending it, rather it is a form of Ijma' which was agreed upon by
early [scholars] and that defending the honours of Muslims is something which
the scholars agreed upon", says Sheikh Suleiman al-Ulwan.
Shaikh
Umar al-Hadushi emphasizes that the proposal to dispute had been sent to the
most influential palace scholars of the KSA: to puppet mufti Abd-al-Aziz Aal
ash-Shaikh and Saleh al-Fawzan - they both sit in the Committee of most
prominent scholars of the KSA and are known for their unfounded criticism of
Mujahideen and support of the apostate Saudi regime.
"Sheikh
Suleiman al-Ulwan asked the mufti and al-Fawzan for a debate, and no one
responded, because the one who defends the falsehood is defeated without doubt",
said Sheikh al-Hadushi.
Meanwhile
Sheikh Abd-al-Aziz al-Tarifi
commented
on the 15-year prison sentence to Suleiman al-Ulwan:
"May
Allah grant relief to the muḥaddith [hadith expert] Shaikh Suleiman al-Ulwan,
and may He cause him to be a source of benefit. He is considered to be among
the people of honesty and truthfulness, and deserves honour and reverence. May
Allah keep him steadfast".
