Hey Justice League,

Here are some of the notes from today's meeting--please feel free to add or amend:

-Began meeting with a discussion about Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April) and what can be done on this campus to raise awareness about these types of issues. There is currently a small, somewhat informal group of students who are planning out specific actions and events for SAAM--Sarah Matusek and I are both members and represented the group at today's meeting.
--I think we came to the conclusion (please chime in if I am wrong!) that, as this smaller group seems to have SAAM stuff under control, the SJL doesn't need to play a huge role in assisting the planning of these events. If anyone would be interested in helping out with SAAM, the group meets every Sunday night at 7:30 in the upstairs conference room in the library.

-We then decided to throw out some ideas for other possible actions. Three main ideas were:
--Holding a Speak Out on Student Debt
--Holding May Day events (I think it was either Lauren or Simone who mentioned having a sort of "mindful sunfest", which would include workshops on commons lawn, skill-sharing, general cool stuff)
--Connecting with the local Occupy movement and possibly attending a protest in Montpelier (I missed some of the details of these events--Wanna add to them, Simone?)

*I'm not sure if we came to a conclusion about which of these three ideas we wanted to focus on, I think we wanted to wait until we had a bigger group to discuss some of these things and so we left it a little bit open?

-Our final point was to change the location of our meeting space to somewhere that wasn't so invasive to other students trying to go about their days.
So, this is IMPORTANT: Our new meeting space will be on the STUDENT CENTER PATIO (weather permitting--rain/snow/hail location will be inside the egg in studs)

Phew. I think that is all--again, feel free to add points or correct any mistakes or misunderstandings!

Happy Long Weekend!

Casey
