After reading the story about the culinary school grad who now lives
in a van, homeless and must eat at missions this is the future for all
those who have any private/federal loans.

I'm a surgeon where SM did the same to me as him with the exception of
two blessful things; my Mom did not dismiss me like his Dad and I live
with her and depend on her for financial help and 2. I wanted to
DOUBLE my student loans when SM placed me into default. At the time my
credit history was impecable - now I'm lucky to qualify for a cell
phone after having 2 successful surgery practices, 2 self signed
mortgages (each at differednt times with no foreclosure), 4 different
car loans..... You get the picture.

With or without private or federal laons if one can't find a job the
grace period is lost and payments due.

I agree with the aformentioned attorney's ---Be 1 trillion strong and
stop your student loan payments. Or be like me and pay $70,000 +, try
to double your payments and join the homeless.

At least, this issue is finally getting some press. It has been swept
under the rug, for too many years.

I plan to continue to use forbearance until I'm dead or until something
dramatically changes, like student loan forgiveness.

They'll only give you 36 months of forbearance.

Their are so many compelling stories regarding this whole debacle. If

one million people effectively foolow through on the witholding of

payment, it certainly would get "their" attention ( to say the very least).

Here in Massachusetts, I have chosen to employ another strategy that

I believe can also have considerable impact. I am recruiting those who

will commit to a fairly simple strategy of meaningful and sustained

pressure being applied to each of the legislators in this state. I have

already begun in the Rep. John Tierney district. I assure you- this

issue is making a bigger beep on he and his staffs radar.

Getting 1 million people to pledge witholding payment sounds exciting.

In reality, it is a struggle to recruit 50 to 100 folks just here in MA that

is actually doable now. Anyone from Mass reading this ? Know

anyone from Mass who may like a chance to fight ? We are gathering

on a Google group at:

SM is a public entity with stocks sold on the stock market. No federal
agency can go after those who own 1 trillion dollars of debt traded on
the stock market. Additioanally, SM's stock would tumble and put them
out of business and prevent them from collecting on anything. Only
then will any laws be passed protecting us from them....WALL STREET.
Enough with the what if's, we are as strong as we want to be. Watch

I've been using forbearance and any other delay method they allow for about the last 10 years.
