There are so many of us who are in "Student Loan Hell"

H.R. 4170 Bill - This could be a helpful bill to us, it is now in a subcommittee, don't know if it is going to wither away or what.

I want to encourage everyone on this site to start contacting your state senators and your state representatives.  I would like to see responses posted by people who are contating elected officials and let's start directing traffic to those who need to hear the facts of our situation and perhaps they will begin to see the whole picture, one person at a time.

Perhaps a petition as a group should be sent to news reporters so this problem can be pushed into the limelight.  If we start taking this type of proactive action steadily, it is a good way to start shedding light on this problem in a more formal and larger scale manner.  I did contact my senator's office today and am requesting assistance with my student loan hell.  My senator happens to be on the committee that can address this situation.

Any support from anybody here would be greatly appreciated.

Katie,  For a few years now I have written to senators, congressmen, reps., attorney generals, presidents, v. pres, governors, etc.  I have a huge stack of copies that never got acknowledged and only a very small stack of acknowledgement that only told me there was nothing that could be done.  I haven't quit but am utterly discouraged.  Today, I went on Senator Dick Durbin's site and was surprised to find an open invitation to tell him about my student loan hell.  He is working very hard to restore our consumer protections.  I urge everyone to go to Sen. Dick Durbin's site and tell him your story.  He is a senator from Illinois and very committed to our cause.  Judy
