So many know the issue. But, no one stops it. So sad how our
government is ripping us off and no one cares to stop it. WHY? Just
follow the money. It is all about the investors...top to bottom.

One of the big troubles though, is that this country is full of
people who refuse to believe that our government would do such a
thing. I'm sure everyone knows the type---the flag-wavers and the
"Greatest-Country-in-the-World" crowd. In fact, there seem to be more
today, than at any other time. They may even (now) be the majority.

And, from personal experience, I might as well be telling one of
them that a flying saucer just landed in my yard. In fact, they may
be MORE apt to believe that, than the fact that our government has
become corrupt. No wonder Congress and big business can do what they
please.

P.S. One side note on what Suze Orman said. Student loans are NOT
the only form of debt that has turned into a criminal scam, without
any protections. From what I have heard, "Child Support" debt has
also become a rip-off through forced default. In fact, the corruption
in that sector makes the student-loan bunch look like a bunch of boy
scouts! But, nobody can ever protest this corruption, because of
ugly, self-righteous name-calling, with phrases like "deadbeat dad".

Of course, student-loans and child-support are ONLY TWO bits of
government extortion, that we know about. How many others are out
there, that we have yet to hear about? Remember how ignorant most
people are, of the student-loan crisis. Could we be ignorant of many
other, similar crises?

Well, it's a proven fact, now, that for years the default rate was higher than 1 in 4, but the Department of Education never issued a public warning, never told the schools or the lender to issue and sort of warning, and in fact went along with them in misleading the public by only discussing "cohort" default rates, which are a fraction of the true default rate.

This has been proven in the media.  The only thing that hasn't happened is public outcry, followed by Congressional shakedown of the decision makers at the Dept. of Ed.

No one wants to go against the federal government.  But the facts are the facts, and the longer we are silent, the worse the problem becomes...  When a few more of us grow a pair, and make the facts impossible to ignore, we'll be getting somewhere.

Well, this proves my point. Not all is what it is claimed to be,
on the child-support issue. For example, a good friend of mine got
divorced from his ex-wife, nearly 20 years ago. They parted company,
with the full agreement that there would be no child-support paid or
owed. She would just take their two daughters, and he would sever all
contact.

At some point AFTER that, however, the ex-wife lost her really
good-paying job, and ended up having to get health care (for the
girls) through CHIP and Medicaid. Now, flash forward 15 years. Out
of nowhere, the government suddenly claims that my friend owes all of
this money, that the government paid out in CHIP and Medicaid.

It's not like my friend is rich---more like hand-to-mouth.
Worse, the government classified that out-of-nowhere debt, as "back
child support"---nearly tripling the original amount, with interest
and penalties, before even notifying my friend. It doesn't seem to
matter that the divorce decree makes NO mention of child support.

When Regan began the "War", yet another war on something he convinced the public/congress.... the "DEAD BEAT" students don't even try to pay their loans. When I was in college at that time the only students not paying on their loans and took out the maximum amount were the foreign students and bragged about it in there sports cars laughing at us suckers!  Just a little history. Dr. Deb  We Are 1 Trillion Dollars Strong!!!! Start reading up on the stock market and Wall Street - then you'll understand how much 1 trillion dollars can do to stop this theft of the middle class.

Veronica, the only people who can stop this is US. I've tried everything each one of you have suggested at one time or another. Our leaders do NOT work for us. Let's all think about this. Why are our student loans intrest rates as much as a mortgage, 25% of all student loans are in default, 7.5 million people have federal student loans, this does not include private student loans, the "DOE" leads us to believe that since 2009 8.4% of borrowers have already defaulted - does not state if federal or private or both and they lead us to believe only 1 trillion dollars of student loans are still on the books.
Again, we are at least 1 Trillion dollars strong. If every student loan borrower stops paying on their loans on a particular time there is no way the DOJ could stop allowing this theft to continue!!!!!!!!  Dr. Deb

Dr Deb, u keep saying that to me. However, I can't stop something I
have NO control of. How do I stop them taking my Pension and my SS.
They already take it. I am NOT giving it to them.
My word it is so frustrating to hear you people say this. They take
it, I don't give it. Uncle SAM lets them take it before I get it. And
if you work they garnish your earning. So, how to you NOT pay if they
take it without you wanting to give it. Get this please, 15% is TAKEN
from me every month, come hell or high water.

Easy to say grow some Balls, when they are not taking your money. I
have been fighting this for 11 years. I have gotten poorer. AND NO ONE
LISTENS. I contacted ever Senator in ever state I lived...they get a
letter from the collection agent , ECMC and by what they say...and
say, see this is what they said. I say, but that is a lie. And then
they are gone .. contacted tons of lawyers....take my money and say oh
well......I am a fighter and will continue till I take my last
breath....at 63 well who knows....
Deb, not yelling at you..not angree at you....just explaining
something that seems to be missing here.. I don't give it to
them...they TAKE my money.. Veronica

Veronica, I know I hear you. It's been since 2001 for me and I have lost everything to these theives. I'm a surgeon and can't get employment anywhere - even at McDonald's because of this. I hear you, feel you and fully empathize with you. It's a damn shame our country has come to this greed is good at any cost and to hell with what the sociopaths do to those they lie, cheat and steel from. I'm close to the age of garnishment too and the thought of them doing that makes me mad as hell. Keep writing and checking in. Your fellow fighter. Triage Doc (new name, get on goggle group Studentloanjustice if not already).

I am crying right now reading your words. I am outraged that you went
to school worked so hard and this is where you are. How terrible
wrong.
I blame our **sick, self serving politicians*** for this mess. This is
a tarnish on their souls.

One thing my family and friends will always remember, I fought the
great fight to the end....

I can not hold on much longer....I am drowning in financial havoc. I
feel so hurt, angry, disappointed and so many other emotions.
11+ years of fighting a lie. (well started in 1993 really), so 19
years of hell.

I have all the prove, I did not default. I have it on there letter
heads and copies from them since 1993. Yet, I am in a bucket yelling
and only I hear me. Only my eyes see the injustice. Why? Follow the
money, there is where you will find the reason and who is
responsible.

I am so tired of the fight. They have truly warn me down. Not giving
up as long as I can breath. But, oh so tied of the lies, oh so tired
of the fight falling on deaf ears.
It is like a marriage u are force to stay in.

It just came to me. Maybe we can take whomever has us inslaved to
court for abuse. I am sure I am in an abusive relationship. I could
server them with
a restraing order. Or have them arrested for abuse. What do you think?

Veronica, I laughed when I read your thought about filing a civil suit for abuse like one would in a dangerous/abusive marriage. Laughter can be good medicine, even if one needs more than one dose. So let's keep writing about our anger, loss, and jokes. Doc Triage.
