Institute of Professional Financial Managers
Annual Convocation 26 September 2009
Change of Venue
The new venue of the Convocation for IPFM members and IUBS students is:
MOSTYN HOTEL in Central London.
The previous booking with Imperial College has been cancelled. The new venue provides the following advantages:
Much more central and much easier to find as it is just off Oxford Street W1.
The robing, reception, convocation and buffet dinner will all be at the same place.
The buffet dinner at GBP 20 represents much better value.
Accommodation is available at special rates for the IPFM. The venue has only executive bedrooms available for the week prior and the week after the conference. These normally sell at £180.00 B&B but the hotel has agreed a rate of £135.00 B&B for IPFM. Guests could call the venue direct and quote IPFM Ltd and give their credit card details, this is subject to availability.
Tips on Visa Applications for a Six-Month Travel Visa
Changes in Tips
We have revised our tips in the light of experience. Where the applicant is being sponsored, we recommend that the sponsor puts sufficient money into the banking account of the applicant to cover the cost of the airfare and the maintenance costs while in London.
Even though students are being sponsored, they are still being rejected because they do not have sufficient funds in their accounts for the journey and maintenance.
The applicant must also send the sponsorship letter showing what the sponsor has agreed to cover and what has been paid so far.
Appeals Procedure
If your visa application is rejected you should appeal. Your application does not attract a full right of appeal. You should appeal on the grounds of discrimination by public authorities and acting contrary to the Human Rights Convention. Do not worry about the grounds as that can be handled by the person appointed to represent you in the UK (free service)
.
When the first applicant appealed, the Clearance Officers offered to reconsider his case and it has now been accepted.
We like to be involved in this process so that we know how the system works. The more we learn the more help we can provide.
If you do not appeal then any future applications will also most likely be rejected. Remember that if everyone appealed no one would ever be rejected!
