The family has requested donations in lieu of flowers be given to our Chula Vista Veterans Home Support Foundation.  The address for the Foundation is at the Veterans Home, 700 East Naples Court, Chula Vista, CA 91911.  Donations could be marked attn:  Bob White, who is our Foundation's President.  The Foundation is a 501(3)(3) charity, so donations are tax deductible.

EVENT:      Memorial services for John Smith, Special Representative, California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) and Veterans Advocate, active in the San Diego Area, who passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2010.

BACKGROUND:   John Smith served in the U.S. Army as a combat medic with 1st Air Cavalry in Vietnam and Europe, ultimately achieving the rank of Spec 5.  After the completion of his military career, he had a long and prosperous career with the California Department of Veterans Affairs, starting with CalVet at the Chula Vista State Veterans Home when it opened in 2000, and as a special representative in the San Diego area.
