Subject: Veteran Employment
Event at AFCEA West 2-3 Feb, 2010
Employers,
We need your help. AFCEA San Diego’s Veteran Retraining Initiative (VRI) is
holding our first Veteran employment one on one matchmaking during this years
AFCEA West event. The reason for this last minute request is that the company
that committed to support the Veteran career fair backed out and we are going
to put this program together ourselves. I am sending this out looking for
your support for this event.
The new program we are putting together will be one on one Veteran-Employer
interview sessions. The program will go from 10 am to 2 pm on Wednesday,
February 3, 2010. We already have a room reserved at the convention center.
There is no charge for employers but we welcome donations the Veteran
Retraining Initiative (VRI), AFCEA, San Diego.
All we need now are employers that have jobs that would like to meet and
interview Veterans in San Diego that are looking for employment. We will have
more information this week. Employers will also be able to set up tables
around the perimeter of the room and the one on one sessions will be set up
in the middle of the room. We will also be looking for people willing to talk
with Veterans while they are waiting for their one-on–ones to talk to
Veterans about resumes and interviewing. Employer contact is Chris Lane

Veterans,
PANEL 1: Transition from the Veteran’s Perspective. Transition from the
Veteran’s Perspective will feature military veterans who have transitioned
into careers in the local industry who will share their secrets to success.
PANEL 2: What Veterans need to know about the Corporate Community.
What Veterans need to know about the Corporate Community will feature local
business leaders with information valuable to both prospective hirers and
transitioning vets.
Bring your resumes and meet San Diego’s biggest supporters of Hiring Vets.
Gain insight into what job skills you already have that will put your job
applications to the top of the pile with any employer. Take the mystery out
of transitioning and find out what you can do to make your experience after
the military as exciting and rewarding as you want it to be.
Meet the local business community. We are eager to shake your hand and thank
you for your service. If you are interested in signing up for up to five (5)
