Letter from the media: Have you been over or under paid by the VA?

My name’s Dave Maass and I’m a staff writer with San Diego CityBeat.
Laura at Bernardo said you might be able to help me track down someone
at the veterans’ council for a story I’m working on.

Basically: On Jan 22, 2010 the US Inspector General issued an audit
report that showed three major problems at the San Diego Naval
disbursement office. First, they didn’t have proper combat-zone
entitlement records for most of the military personnel. Second, it had
overpaid many service members who have since been hit with big bills.
Third, several hundred service members have been underpaid for their
combat zone work.

I’m trying to track down a veteran who has experienced some of these
things, particularly the part about being later hit with a bill for
overpayment.
