I have 2 quick questions regarding collograph prints with 2nd and 3rd
graders. First, am I out of my mind to think that it's possible to
complete a collograph matrix and have time to print in a one hour time
slot, and second, if it is possible to do all that in one hour, is
there a good glue that will dry quick enough to make stable enough
matrix's to print with in that amount of time.
Thanks

Well Chris,

I do think that trying to do the whole collograph prints in one class is pushing the envelope a little. For the whole lesson you have to set up for two tasks with their respective demostration, guided practice, and independent practice. Cutting/pasting/getting ready to print; and preparing the ink/printing/and printing some more. Remember that with paint and that sort of stuff you have to give yourself at least ten minutes for clean up. For those reasons I personally would do it in two classes.

I hope I was of some help

Chris,
When you work with collagraphs, you need to give the matrix time to
dry. I suggest at least overnight so the glue can dry and not
interfere with the inking. Otherwise, the various textures of the
matrix may come off as you ink the matrix.
Hope this helps,
Laurel
