10/17/2013
ICC Announcements:
- Tuesday, October 22nd: Oktoberfest Pie Eating Contest
From 12-2pm and 4-6pm in the Quad. Bring your appetite! (noms!)
- Friday, October 25th: Trick or Treating at 'A Fairy Tale Night'
From 6-8pm at the Quad. **Costume contest at 5pm**
Does not appear that the club will be participating in this event due to not having the 5,000 pieces of candy required for the event. Plus, it does kind of go against the principle of sustainability.
-ASRCC Kick Ball Tournament: Saturday, November 9th. Need a minimum of 7 club members to participate.
Movie Nights:
-When should we have our next movie night, and what should we show??
What topic(s)/theme(s) would we like to address to the student body?
Should we facilitate a Q&A after the showing of the movie?
-We will more than likely make a decision on what and when to show at the next SSC meeting.
Please be prepared with ideas and suggestions before we meet again!
Example: Dr. Huff recommended the documentary, YERT (http://www.yert.com/) .
Submit R25 ASAP
Organize duties for: a flier, advertisement, popcorn machine, tabling event, speaker(s), and cleanup/breakdown.
*get a hold of cleaning equipment (broom or vacuum)*
-Keep a look out for a separate e-mail thread through our google groups account for suggestions, and updates.
Volunteer Hours:
-Last day to submit service hours on the rivasrcc.org website is November 1st!
Please don't wait until the last minute to do this.
SSC Hike!:
-No date set yet, but everyone seemed show favor to go on a hike on the first weekend after finals.
*Finals week is December 8th-14th, so Saturday the 21st looks tentative!*
Ideas shared at the meeting:
1) The Bridge to Nowhere trail in the San Gabriel Mts.
2) The Big C trail in our very own Box Spring Mts.
3) Hike near the Big Bear Discovery Center
Next Meeting: Thursday, October 24th, from 12:50-1:50pm.
