Hey everyone!
I hope everyone is having a fine semester. So, I've been trying to look up some possible documentary films that the club has yet to show. There are so many issues that should be at the forefront of discussion when it comes to the environment and the living organisms that dwell within it. Whether one has a specific film or subject they would like share, the SSC would like to hear your thoughts to help choose a film or two to showcase in the near future.
Personally, I tend to constantly meet people from the young to mature who are unaware of the many problems that our biosphere is going through. Sometimes some of these people are either apathetic or bewildered when it comes to any concern over the state of our environment. In an effort to reach out to students or members of the community who may reflect this thinking, I'm recommending the following films:
- Earthdays

I've seen this film in the past, and it's focused on the conception of 'Earth Day' in 1970.
- Food Inc.

Addresses world/U.S. food production and consumption
- A River Changes Course*

*This film appears to still be relatively new, looks very interesting, and it would be a good opportunity make this into an event similar to how we hosted Gasland (the club's first film showing).
Remember, these are only suggestions, and I'd love to hear any thoughts or ideas from the group. Feel free to add your thoughts, or ideas to this email tread.
- Also, don't forget that Dr. Huff recommended the film YERT!
Looking forward to the next meeting!
