Stumbled across this settlement in the Jury Verdicts Weekly on
accident. This is Gallo's culinary school class action. Settled for
$40,000,000.

$2,000,000 of that went to a fund for student loan debt to be divided
among the class members. Hope that's enough to pay off everyone's
loans! What this means in the long run, however, is that because the
case did not go to trial, a judgment was not entered against the
school; this would have been the ideal result, because it would
brought the legal question of racketeering student loans to issue.

What we need is a test case to go to the Supreme Court, like the ACLU
did for Rosa Parks. Anyway, think happy thoughts. At least there
is some relief for all those out-of-work chefs....
