Hi SCC Committee,

What are you expecting in the architecture proposal due September 20? Do we need to provide the exact model numbers and SKUs for everything in the cluster, and the precise version of Linux that we will use, or can it be a more general description? Do you want to know the team's thought process in selecting the particular architecture? And what would be a reasonable length for the document? So far we have three pages, including a large figure and a table, so probably 2 pages of actual text.

Regards,
-Rebecca

Rebecca,
You do not need to provide the SKU for everything in the cluster, but I would like to get a general idea of what the software stack is (OS, compilers, MPI library, scheduler, etc...) and what the hardware looks like (Processor model, accelerator model, type or memory and capacity, disk drives, etc...). The goal of the architecture proposal is to give the committee a final look at what you are bringing, and allows us to check up and make sure that the hardware you are bringing will not get you disqualified if it is not publicly available. So I will not be needing specifics like kernel version, but knowing that you are running for example RHEL-6.4 is useful; keep it general.

Also, 2-3 pages is about the length that is appropriate.

Thanks,
Dustin
