MASONIC RENEWAL COMMITTEE
Submitted by MW William H. Berman
Secretary/Treasurer of the M.R.C.
The Masonic Renewal Committee (M.R.C.) is an incorporated
body of the Conference of Grand Masters in North America
(C.G.M.N.A.). The MRC was established by the CGMNA in
1988 with the mission of developing innovative programs
that would re-invigorate the spirit of Freemasonry within
the Grand Lodges and subordinate Blue Lodges throughout
North America.

The membership of the MRC is comprised of a number
of Past Grand Masters, Right Worshipful brethren, and "white
apron" Masons from across North America. In addition, there
are valuable members representing both the Northern and
Southern Masonic Jurisdictions of the Supreme Councils of
the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite and also Shriners'
International. The common philosophy of the committee is
the goal of re-energizing our Craft with ideas and approaches
that are at times "traditional", at other times thinking
somewhat "out of the box".

HURRICANE RELIEF UPDATE
$19,000 Raised for Texas Relief to Date

Brethren,

Congratulations! You should be proud. It's What We Do.

A 53-foot tractor trailer left yesterday from the Masonic Fellowship Center in Burlington driven by RW Kenneth Wasiewicz. It was filled to the brim with donations to help our Brethren affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas. A special thanks to MW Trautmann, RW Holt and RW Churney who organized all the efforts. Everything from diapers and wet wipes to dog food and water was donated by you.

Today, a check for $19,000 was sent to the Masonic Service Association of North America to be forwarded to the Grand Lodge of Texas for distribution to Brethren in need.

Now that Hurricane Irma in Florida has come and gone, we will be continuing to accept monetary or goods for both Texas and Florida Masonic families affected by these destructive hurricanes.

Details are in the attached flyer. Donations can be made online at www.NewJerseyGrandLodge.com

Please continue to Pat It Forward and support our needy Brethren. It's What We Do!

Thank you in advance,

MW Dieter B Hees

MIDDLE CHAMBER TALKS vol. 4

Grand Lodge Education & Services Committee

MIDDLE CHAMBER TALKS VOLUME 4 AUGUST
BRAND IMAGE AND INTRIC VALUE OF NJ FREEMASONRY

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
Freemasonry promotes a way of Life that binds like-minded Men
with the principles of brotherly love, relief, and Truth in order to serve
God, Family, Country, Neighbor and Self.

THE VALUE OF FREEMASONRY
A Rich Heritage:
No Freemasonry is our connection with 300 years of history; 600 years of heritage, 1000 years of tradition, 3000 years of legend, and 6000 years of enlightenment.
Employing the ancient mystical heritage of Freemasonry and the symbolism of architecture, like-minded Men help impart awareness and knowledge to build character, one Brother at a time.
Valuable Tenets:
Through self-introspection and the pursuit of understanding the "design" of the Grand Architect of the Universe, brethren strive to exemplify the tenets of Freemasonry in all aspects of their lives. These include brotherly love, relief, and truth.
  • Brotherly love helps us promote and foster social and benevolent affection
  • Relief is the virtue of unselfish service to one another
  • Truth conveys our understanding of one's self and our spiritual connection with the Divine
OUR JOURNEY vol. 4

By: R. W. Michael Tucker, District Deputy Emeritus
OUR JOURNEY VOLUME 4 AUGUST
In Volume 3 I spoke of Freemasonry being a Lifetime of Opportunity. Opportunity is only important if you avail yourself of it. So how do we go about availing ourselves of the opportunities of Freemasonry?

It boils down to commitment! Each of us, every day, in every action we take, must commit. We must commit using the tools given to and used by us to make every decision as moral and pure as we can. The Square, Compasses, Trowel and other working tools augment the obligations we took upon our Holy Writs. These are our guides. We only need to reflect upon them during our verbal and written communications. I know that when you are up to your waist in alligators, it's hard to remember you went into the water to drain the swamp. (I cleaned that up a bit) I personally surround myself with Masonic symbolism, not to show you I am a Mason but to remind me, I am a Mason and act accordingly.

WHENCE WE CAME vol. 4

By: R. W. Michael Neuberger, Grand Historian
WHENCE WE CAME VOLUME 4 AUGUST
"Whence we came?" is an aged old question. We know the Grand Lodge of England was formed in 1717, but where did the four lodges that formed the Grand Lodge come from? How far back do our traditions go? Does our ancestry really date only so far back as the age of taverns and bars? Over the next series of articles, we will explore our history and in the process, travel through time to ancient lands and rediscover ancient wisdoms. This month we explore Ancient Rome and the Comacine Masters.
Whence We Came? Comacine Masters
The Comacine Masters were Lombard stonemasons, who worked in stone architecture. They were headquartered near Lake Como. The first known mention of this guild was in 643, when King Rothari of the Lombards put out an edict detailing the legal remedies should a house collapse that was built by a Comacine Master. The Comacine Masters formed a secret brotherhood, whereby they would protect and preserve the secrets of stone building, provide mutual protection for each other, fraternalization, engage in lavish banquets, act as insurance brokers for their members, and care for their widows and orphans.
