Arbetsgruppen för kunskaps- och vetenskapssociologi efterlyser bidrag till Sociologidagarna i Växjö 18-20 mars 2026. Det övergripande temat för årets konferens är ”Same as it ever was?”.
Till arbetsgruppen Kunskaps- och vetenskapssociologi välkomnar vi empiriska såväl som teoretiska bidrag inom kunskaps- och vetenskapssociologi, brett tolkat. Kunskapssociologin, förstått som studiet av hur begrepp, kategorier och sätt att kognitivt ordna världen konstrueras, reproduceras och bestrids i relation till olika former av sociala strukturer och institutioner, har länge varit en viktig del av sociologin och det tvärvetenskapliga fältet STS (Science and Technology Studies). Bidrag till gruppen kan täcka alla former av kunskapsproduktion och teoretiska ansatser. Forskningsområden kan exempelvis innefatta kunskapsproduktion och kvalitetsbedömning inom och utanför akademin, forsknings- och innovationspolitik, sociotekniska förväntningar och visioner, kön och andra former av social klassificering i relation till kunskap och teknologi, sociala aspekter av digitalisering, samt utforskande av relationer mellan forskning, media, politik, experter, medborgare och stat.

The working group Sociology of Knowledge and Science is looking for submissions to the biannual conference of the Swedish Sociological Association in Växjö, March 18-20, 2026. The overarching theme of the conference is “Same as it ever was?”.
We welcome both empirical and theoretical contributions within the sociology of knowledge and science, generously interpreted. The sociology of knowledge – understood as the study of how shared concepts, categories and ways of cognitively ordering the world are constructed, reproduced and contested in relation to various forms of social structures and institutions – has long been an integral part of sociology and the interdisciplinary field of STS (Science and Technology Studies). Contributions to the working group may cover all forms of knowledge production and theoretical approaches. Research areas could include, for example, knowledge production and quality evaluation within or outside academia, research and innovation policy, sociotechnical expectations and visions, gender and other forms of social classification in relation to knowledge and technology, social aspects of digitalization, or studies of the relations between research, media, politics, experts, citizens and the state.
