Well written! Nice encapsulation of the benefits to consumers. Wish we had a better term for them. Readers doesn't work anymore. Users is typical in tech. Audience sounds pompous.

Thanks!  I agree - we need a less clinical/transactional term that respectfully identifies people who consume/use/enjoy/apply digital media.

The post soft-sells XML as the only approach to structure, but has some excellent points and examples of what is essentially structured journalism applied to a very different domain.
