Hey Kate

This error commonly occurs when the path to the structure.exe executable is incorrect or the file is missing.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

Verify the correct path to the structure.exe executable: Double-check that the path you provided in the exec argument is correct and points to the actual location of the structure.exe file on your system. Make sure to use the correct slashes (/ or \\) depending on your operating system.

Confirm that the structure.exe file exists: Ensure that the structure.exe file is present in the specified directory. If it's missing, you may need to reinstall the dartR package or download the Structure software separately.

Check file permissions: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to execute the structure.exe file and access the required files and directories.

Try specifying the absolute path: Instead of a relative path, provide the complete absolute path to the structure.exe file in the exec argument. For example, "C:/structure/structure.exe".

Test with a different executable: If you're still encountering issues, try using a different executable or a different version of the Structure software to see if the problem persists. Make sure the executable you're using is compatible with the version of dartR you have installed.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the "cannot locate class file" error and successfully run the Structure analysis using dartR in R.

Hi All,

hoping someone can help.

I am trying to run a structure analysis through dartR in R. Unfortunately, when I try to run the code it gives me the following error "Fali to start Structure: cannot locate class file"

Does anyone know why this might be happening and how to resolve it?

Here is my code:

stru <- gl.run.structure(hwe95, k.range= 1:6 , num.k.rep = 100 , burnin = 1000 , numreps = 1000, noadmix = FALSE , exec = "C:/structure/structure.exe", plot.out = TRUE, save2tmp = FALSE, verbose = NULL)

Thanks,
Kate
