Hi,

I've been trying to run a dataset in the command line version of
Structure 2.3.1, and am getting a weird error message when I try to
initiate a run: individual X has a negative location! locations should
be >= 0.

So, for the record, I am not providing any location data, all I have
in the data file are individual names and loci. I don't have any
minus (-) signs anywhere in the input file, because I am using a
complete data set without missing genotypes. If it helps, I am
working with loci that contain up to 96 distinct alleles, but only a
small number of individuals, 132. I don't know why that would have
anything to do with the problem at hand, but figured I would mention
it just in case.

Does anybody have any idea what might be causing the program to give
this error?

Thanks!
James

Dear all,

I also have the problem mentioned. I'm using Structure 2.3.1, command
line version for Linux. My input is:

Bay-0 4 2 2
Bor-4 4 2 2
Br-0 4 2 2
Bur-0 3 4 4

NUMINDS is set to 4
NUMLOCI is set to 3
ONEROWPERINDIVIDUAL is set to 1
PLOIDY is set to 1

Any help would be great.

Regards,
Liam

I've found a workaround(?). By setting the option POPDATA to 1 and
including dummy population data, the script will run. I'm not sure if
this is expected behaviour as POPDATA is meant to be optional after
all...
