February Meeting + T-Shirts

Hello everyone!

We are almost through January already.... wow. We have been a little slow getting organized, but are finally in the swing of things.

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 4th, at 6:30pm in the CML Main Library, room 1C. This meeting will be focused on kicking off a particular effort..... 

Crash Analysis Studio

Here at Strong Towns Columbus, we have decided to start up our very own Crash Analysis Studio! For those who don't know what that is, feel free to check out some of the national group's studios here and here. Essentially, it is a comprehensive review of all the various factors which contributed to a particular crash - such as lane widths, design speeds, driver visibility, etc. - rather than focusing exclusively on driver error. The studio is formatted as a webinar discussion, and the goal of these efforts is to change how crashes are talked about in Columbus.

This is a sizeable undertaking, and will require tangible efforts to be made by many hands in order to produce something worthwhile. If you feel passionately about roadway safety, or are looking for a fresh avenue for contribution (or both), then please join us at our upcoming February meeting. There are many interesting ways to get involved with this process - crash location site visits, crash report analyses, and vehicle speed data collection, to name a few.

T-Shirts

For those who requested t-shirts - they are in! I've ordered enough to cover everyone who said they wanted one, as well as some extras. I will have the entire box with me, so if you claimed one, or haven't but would like to, please join us this coming Tuesday. All shirts will be sold at cost: $10 each.
