Good afternoon,

I hope everyone is doing well! When we canceled our May meeting due to Election Day, we promised to share some updates on current projects and efforts, here’s a quick summary:

Complete Streets Policy
  • We’re excited to share a major advocacy win: earlier this week, Columbus City Council passed a Complete Streets ordinance into city code. Following a rise in pedestrian fatalities during winter 2023–24, advocates across the city pushed for safer street design. After months of meetings, hearings, and public testimony, this effort resulted in a stronger and more transparent policy. A big shoutout to Transit Columbus for leading policy feedback and engaging with the city and thank you to all the Strong Towns folks who showed up and shared their voices.

ADU Recipe Card
  • Back in March, a group of members drafted an ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) recipe card. We’re currently putting the finishing touches on it. If you had ideas you didn’t get a chance to share earlier, we’d still love your input.

Participatory Budgeting
  • As we mentioned at the April meeting, we’re planning to get involved in the City’s participatory budgeting efforts. Due to some recent staff turnover at the city, our idea collection process will now begin in July. There will be plenty of opportunities to get involved, so stay tuned.

Our next general meeting is just a few weeks away. In addition to updates and ways to get involved, we’re planning for this to be a more interactive session focused on brainstorming and shaping the direction of Strong Towns Columbus for the second half of 2026.
  • Tuesday, June 2, 6:30 PM
  • Columbus Metropolitan Library – Northside Branch

Thanks again for staying engaged and helping move this work forward. We’re looking forward to continuing the conversation in June.
